A new small wind turbine can power your car

portable small wind turbine

Last April we posted a blog about the small wind turbine called the Trinity that was crowdfunded using Kickstarter. This year the same guys behind the original project have come up with scaled up versions of the trinity, in 4 different sizes (all correlating to watts), the Trinity 50, 400, 1000, and 2500.
These small wind turbines are able to generate power in winds as low as 4 mph and vary in weight from 1.4 lbs to 42 lbs. To understand the power that these are capable of generating, the Trinity 400 (watts) is able to charge your iPhone 16 times when fully charged. The largest model, the Trinity 2500, is enough to power a small home or provide power for your electric car.
The power generated by the portable wind turbines are stored in a Li-ion battery pack, the same type of battery used to power electric cars. However, the Trinity 1000 and 2500 versions also have a grid tie inverter which can be connected to the power supply system of a home or RV.
The Trinity wind turbines can be found on Kickstarter for crowdfunding of the project and the pledges which include a small wind turbine are as follows:
Trinity 50 – $369 (early bird) or $399
Trinity 400 – $999 (early bird) or $1099
Trinity 1000 – $2799 (early bird) or $2999
Trinity 2500 – $5599 (early bird or $5999
The portable wind turbines even come with a mobile app that allows you to control your Trinity and track how much power is being generated, including historical data.
