Gamesa is partnering up with Spanish company Elecnor to build another wind farm, Al Rajef, an 86MW wind power plant in the region of Maan in southern Jordan.
The wind farm will be comprised of 41 G114-2.1 MW wind turbines and Gamesa will be responsible for the operation and maintenance of the facility for 20 years including the infrastructure required for the installation itself.
The project will start in autumn 2017 and commissioning is expected to take place in September 2018 while operations should begin by October 2018. This is one of many wind farm projects the company has won in 2016. Gamesa has had a busy year, as they announce they’ve beaten their annual turbine manufacturing record with more than 1880 wind turbines, with a total capacity of 3,880 MW! The last record held was back in 2008 with a total of 3,787 MW produced.
According to the press release, the turbines were assembled all over the world: India (36%), Europe (28%), China (26%) and Brazil (10%). The company will be celebrating at their four nacelle assembly factories, located in Ágreda (Spain), Tianjin (China), Camaçari (Brazil) and Mamandur (India).
