EDP Renewables and the Dairyland Power Cooperative celebrated the completion of the 98MW Quilt Block Wind Farm at a dedication ceremony in Darlington, Wisconsin on November 10.
The wind farm is located in Lafayette County and will produce enough energy to power 25,000 households in Dairyland’s service area, across 4 states.
The project represents an investment of roughly $167 million and is EDPR’s first operational wind farm in Wisconsin with Dairyland entering a power purchase agreement (PPA) for the entire output.
Executive Vice President – Central and Western Regions and Mexico, Steve Irvin said, “EDP Renewables is proud to expand its operational presence into the Badger State and bring a number of environmental and economic benefits to Wisconsin and surrounding states through its Quilt Block Wind Farm. EDPR is pleased to partner with Dairyland Power Cooperative to bring clean, renewable energy to local farmers and rural communities.”
Dairyland President and CEO, Barbara Nick said, “The Quilt Block Wind Farm is a key component of Dairyland’s strategic imperative of Resource Diversification. Thousands of homes in our cooperative system will be powered with safe and sustainable wind energy from Quilt Block for years to come.”
