TRIG invests in wind farms

The Renewables Infrastructure Group Ltd. (TRIG) has recently bought a wind farm in Ireland for a grand total of 17.3 million euros ($22 million). The wind farm, with a capacity of 25.3MW located in County Cork, was bought from Renewable Energy Systems Ltd.
TRIG is an investment company based in Guernsey which was incorporated in May 2013, and its initial portfolio consisted of 18 assets spread out in the UK, France, and Ireland, 14 of which operate onshore wind projects. According to Bloomberg who reported on the story, TRIG had raised 300 million pounds last year for investments in renewables, specifically onshore wind and solar PV.
TRIG’s investment manager, Richard Crawford said:
“Taurbeg is an unlevered project with an attractive yield and operating history,”
“With nine project acquisitions completed in 2014, TRIG has increased its generating capacity in aggregate by more than 50 percent this year, providing further benefits of diversification and scale, and generating sustainable returns for investors.”
According to the TRIG website:
“The Company has an independent board of non-executive directors and is managed on a day-to-day basis by InfraRed Capital Partners Limited as investment manager and by Renewable Energy Systems Limited as operations manager. Further details of the governance and management of the Company are set out in the Prospectus.
An investment in the Company will enable investors to gain exposure to a portfolio of fully operational onshore wind and solar energy generation assets in the UK, France and Ireland. The Company intends to acquire Further Investments in the future in the UK and other Northern European countries (including France, Ireland, Germany and Scandinavia).”
It seems investing in onshore wind is very lucrative, considering many investment companies like this are springing up around the world!
