United Wind, the leading distributed wind developer in the United States has recently purchased 100, 10kW wind turbines from Bergey WindPower for their WindLease program.
Bergey WindPower is a manufacturer of small distributed wind turbines from 1kW all the way up to their 10KW Excel 10 model, which produces roughly 15,000kWh to 25,000kWh of electricity a year; enough power for a small home or business.
The WindLease program offered by United Wind allows property owners, like farmers, to lease wind turbines and ‘benefit from below market, fixed electricity costs for up to 30 years without any upfront expenses.’
CEO of United Wind, Russell Tencer said, “”With WindLease, we empower rural property owners to immediately lower their cost of electricity and lock it in below historical inflation for up to 30 years,”
“This landmark order of 100 Bergey Excel 10 wind turbines demonstrates both the strong customer demand for WindLease as well as the beginning of the maturation of the distributed wind industry supply chain, which will enable the industry to compete in more markets as we continue to focus on lowering installed costs.”
President & CEO of Bergey WindPower, Mike Bergey said, “”We are pleased to be the exclusive 10kW wind turbine supplier to United Wind’s pioneering WindLease program, which allows customers to enjoy the benefits of a small wind system without the burden of high upfront costs,”
“This latest order for Bergey turbines by United Wind is the largest single purchase of small wind turbines, as measured by units, in U.S. history. It’s a major victory for U.S. manufacturing and the small wind turbine industry.”
Small-scale distributed wind turbines have become increasingly popular as its made it possible for small farmers and property owners across the globe to supplement their income using the land they own.
